Memo: Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:- When establishing Fulgoraecia bowringii, Newman referred to a brief description of a moth published without a name in 1851 October, Zoologist 9: 3269. This description, sufficient for the names to be regarded as nomenclaturally available, was included in a letter from J.C. Bowring read at a meeting of the Entomological Society of London on 1 September 1851. The Society published the identical description in 1851 [November 17], Trans. ent. Soc. Lond. (2) 1 (Proc.): 104. J.C. Bowring was a corresponding member of the Society living in Hong Kong. Fulgoraecia Newman, 1851, and F. bowringii Newman, 1851, are senior subjective synonyms of Epipyrops Bowring, 1852, and E. anomala Bowring, 1852, respectively. Neither of the senior names has been used since they were established and under the Code, Articles 23(a-b) and 79(b), existing usage should be maintained and the case referred to the Commission. See also: Epipyrops Bowring, 1852.
