Memo: Cowan (1970: 36) stated:- GONOPTERYX Dunning & Pickard, 1858, Accent. List Brit. Lep. : vii, 2. An Unjustified Emendation of Gonepteryx Leach, 1815. On page vii Dunning & Pickard explained that, in making emendations, they placed their proposed name first and the "misnomer" after it. This they did here; "Gonopteryx Lea., [Gonepteryx]", followed by their theory of the derivation. The higher classification used here follows Lamas (2008).
