Memo: Cowan (1968: 6) stated:- Invalid. The late Lt. Cot. H. F. Stoneham, O.B.E. of Kenya proposed this name for the two species Papilio varanes Cramer and Charaxes fulvescens Aurivillius, but he designated no type-species. This unfortunate oversight, of failing to comply with Article 13 (b) of the 1961 Code, rendered the name "unavailable". The name was listed by Zool. Rec. (Ins.) 1964 (1967) : 225, but again without sufficient data to constitute valid publication. Only complete and proper republication could validate this name, with a new authorship and date. Rather than redescribe the genus now under the same name, which might lead to future confusion, I have named it after its proposer (see Stonehamia). The higher classification used here follows Lamas (2008).
