Memo: Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:- A junior homonym of Macrosila Walker, 1856, List Specimens lepid. Insects Colln Br. Mus. 8: 198, - Lepid., Sphingidae. There is mop objective replacement name, but S. hasdrubal is a junior subjective synonym of Sphinx tetrio Linnaeus, [1771], the type-species of Pseudosphinx Burmeister, 1855; the latter is thus available for use as a subjective replacement name. Sphinx hasdrubal is dated from the wrapper of part 21 not from the title-page of volume 3, which is dated 1782. Sagra's work was published simultaneously in both French and Spanish editions; the sizes of the volumes in the two editions differ, hence the different pagination. Kitching & Cadiou (2000) list MACROSILA Lucas, 1857 as a junior synonym of PSEUDOSPHINX Burmeister, 1855.
