| Memo: | Hemming (1967) stated:- The taxon represented by Papilio alcon is currently considered subjectively on taxonomic grounds to be congeneric with the taxon represented by the nominal species Papilio arion Linnaeus, 1758, which for a time was erroneously supposed to be the type-species of Lycaena Fabricius, 1807, following an incorrect type-determination by Tutt in 1900 (Ent. Rec. 18 : 130). Glaucopsyche Scudder, 1872 was downgraded to denote a subgenus of Maculinea van Eecke, 1915 by Balint 1989, Atalanta 19 (1-4) : 93. MACULINEA was included within the subfamily LYCAENIDAE: LYCAENINAE by Ackery et al., in Kristensen (1999). The higher classification used here follows Lamas (2008). |
