Memo: Nye (1975) stated:- Proposed, unnecessarily, as an objective replacement name for Megaloptera Bethune-Baker, 1908, which Strand considered to be a homonym of the sub-order Megaloptera in the order Neuroptera. The name Megaloptera was not, however, nomenclaturally available as a genus-group name in the Neuroptera. See: MEGALOPTERA Bethune-Baker, 1908. Poole (1989) included MEGALOPTERA Bethune-Baker, 1908; SYSTATICOSPORA Bethune-Baker, 1908; and MEGALOPTEROIDES Strand, 1910 as junior synonyms of PIRATISCA Meyrick,1902.
