Memo: Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:- A junior homonym and a junior objective synonym of Oberthueria Kirby, 1892 [July 9]. Oberthueria Staudinger was established as an objective replacement name for Euphranor Oberthür, 1880. The title-page of volume 6 of Romanoff's Mémoires sur les Lépidoptères is dated 1892, without the month or the day of publication being specified. Dr I.M. Kerzhner, librarian of the All-Union Entomological Society in Leningrad, has very kindly made extensive searches of the Russian literature of the period and has succeeded in dating the work [July 1-July 12] 1892. In a letter dated 25.vii.1977, Dr Kerzhner drew attention to a note by Staudinger, 1901, i Staudinger & Rebel, Cat. Lepid. palaearct. Faunengeb. 1: 223, no.2355, which dated volume 6 of Romanoff's work as July 1892. In a letter dated 24.xi.1978, Dr Kerzhner wrote `The volume was published in the printing-house of M.M.Stasiulevitsh who was a well-known Russian historian, editor and public man. Stasiulevitsh edited a monthly magazine 'Vestnik Evropy' (European Herald). In Vestnik Evropy 1892, vol.IV, July on p.444, in a list of books and booklets received in the editorial office in June (julian calendar) we receive as interval between July 1 and July 12. No information was obtained by search in; I.M.M. Stasiulevitsh and his contemporaries in their correspondence, 5 vols, 1911-1913 (in Russian). The edition was not finished and the published part contains no letters from Romanoff or Staudinger. 2. Newspaper `Sankt Petersburgskie vedomosti' (News of St Petersburg) for June-July 1892.' Article 21(e) of the Code states that where the date of publication of a work is a range of dates then the work is to be dated from the latest day within the range. Voume 6 of Romanoff's work has therefore been dated [12 July] 1882. Oberthueria Staudinger was first published as * Oberthüria, an incorrect original spelling under Article 32(c)(i) of the Code. OBERTHUERIA was included (as OBERTHUERIINAE) in the subfamily PRISMOSTICTINAE by Lemaire & Minet, in Kristensen (1999).
