| Memo: | Hemming (1967) stated:- The taxon represented by the nominal species Parapithecops gaura is currently treated subjectively on taxonomic grounds as being the same as that represented by the older-established nominal species Pithecops zalmora Butler, 1869 (Cat. diurn Lep. Fabricius Brit. Mus. : 161). The fact that it was on 30th June 1884 that the name Parapithecops Moore was published is important, for that name is currently considered to be a subjective synonym of Neopithecops, Distant, published on 31st May of that year. The higher classification used here follows Lamas (2008). |
