Memo: Nye (1975) stated:- Sigela was originally placed in the Geometridae. Fletcher (1979) stated:- This genus was originally proposed in the Geometridae, but has since been transferred to the Noctuidae, where it was placed by Barnes & McDunnough, 1917, Check List Lepid. bor. Am.: 74. Poole (1989) included SIGELA in the subfamily ACONTIINAE. Poole (1989) included 8 species in the genus SIGELA.
