Memo: Sphragifera Staudinger, 1892 was treated in the Noctuidae, Acronictinae/ Amphipyrinae in Nye 1975, 1 : 455. Sphragifera has subsequently been referred to the Eustrotiinae from Amphipyrinae the within the Noctuidae by Speidel, Fanger & Naumann, 1996, Systematic Entomology 21 (3) : 248. Poole (1989) included SPHRAGIFERA in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE, subsequently restricted to the genus AMPHIPYRA by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). Other genera formerly treated in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE are treated as HADENINAE by Kitching & Rawlins (loc. cit.). Poole (1989) included SPHRAGIDIFERA Bryk, 1949 as a junior synonym of SPHRAGIFERA Staudinger, 1892. Poole (1989) included 4 species in the genus SPHRAGIFERA.
