| Memo: | Watson, Fletcher & Nye (1980) stated:- A junior homonym of Spilosoma Curtis, 1825. There is no objective replacement name but P. lubricipeda is the senior subjective synonym of Bombyx menthastri [Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775, the type-species of Spilosoma Curtis, 1825; the latter is therefore available for use as a subjective replacement name. Spilosoma was proposed again by Stephens, 1828, Illust. Br. Ent. (Haustellata) 2: 55, 74; 1829 [June], Nom. Br. Insects: 40; and 1829 [July], Syst. Cat. Br. Insects (2): 56. |
