Memo: Nye (1975) stated:- T. elegantula is a junior subjective synonym of Oxaenanus hieroglyphica Swinhoe, 1902, Ann. Mag. nat. Hist. (7) 9: 178. Tamsia was proposed for T. elegantula, but in the last paragraph of the description Roepke also proposed the name T. javanica for female, specimen from Java, if it proved to be different. Although this latter name is available, it was at that time doubtfully identified and, under the Code, Article 68(c), is not eligible for selection as type-species. Poole (1989) included TAMSIA in the subfamily OPHIDERINAE, treated as CALPINAE by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). Poole (1989) included only 1 species in the genus TAMSIA.
