Memo: | Hemming (1967) stated:- The name Thysonotis Hübner is invalid by reason of being a junior objective synonym of the name Danis Fabricius, 1807. For the reasons which have been explained in the note on the name Danis, that name was long disregarded and during that time the name Thysonotis was employed by various authors for this genus. In more recent times, however, Danis has been restored by a number of authors. Neither name has been used extensively, no doubt because the genus concerned has only a limited distribution, being confined to the Papuan Sub-Region and the east coast of Australia as far as Sydney. The higher classification used here follows Lamas (2008). |
