Memo: Nye & Fletcher (1991) stated:- The type-species was established in the subgenus Tinea Linnaeus, 1758. Tinea was placed on the Official List of Generic Names in Zoology: Name Number 1061, with P. pellionella designated as type-species under the plenary powers of the Commission. Neave, 1940, Nomencl. zool. 4: 496, cited "Tinea Denis & Schiffermüller 1775" as the first available use of the name. See also: Autoses Hbner, [1825]; Dystinea Bürner, 1925; * Ses Hübner, [1806]; Ses Hübner, 1822; * Taenia Walker, 1855; * Tinaea Geoffroy, 1762; * Tinaea Müller, 1764; Tinearia Rafinesque, 1815. TINEA was included within the subfamily TINEIDAE: TINEINAE by Davis & Robinson, in Kristensen (1999). Robinson (2001) included the type-species of ACEDES Hübner, 1825; SCLEROPLASTA Meyrick, 1919; and TINEOPIS Zagulajev, 1960 in the genus TINEA Linnaeus, 1758. Robinson (2001) included 67 species in the genus.
