Memo: Cowan (1970: 9) stated:- Herrich-Schüffer published this name, with a diagnosis consisting of a wing diagram (making it available) but with no included species, saying it was a Boisduval label-name. Westwood, [1851] (Gen. diurn. Lep. 2 : 327) listed it (as Boisd. ms., Herr.-Sch.) as a synonym of Zeuxidia Hübner; referred (: 328) to Herrich-Schüffer's diagram; and placed (: 329) four included species in Zeuxidia the third of which was "Z. boisduvalii Westw. (Aglaura nephus Boisd.)". One can surmise that this could have been the only Boisduval ms. name in the original Aglaura, but any of Westwood's four included species and their synonyms was available for subsequent designation. By Hemming's designation cited above (made for "Aglaura Westwood"), Aglaura Herrich-Schüffer is a junior objective synonym of Zeuxidia Hübner. It is also a junior homonym of Aglaura by Péron & Lesueur, 1810, by Rafinesque, 181S, by Savigny, 1822, and by Gistl, 1848. A note on Herrich-Schüffer's paper is given in the Bibliography chapter below. "Aglaura Westwood" of Hemming, 1967 : 31 is a myth. Cowan (1970: 18) stated:- HERRICH-SCHÄFFER, 1849 Abhandl. d. zool.-min. Ver. Regensb. 1 : 175-196, pls. 1-4. This early attempt at classification by Herrich-Schüffer seems to have been overlooked. It appeared certainly later than July 1849, and was the first part of a planned survey of Boisduval's collection, so it naturally included a number of Boisduval's unpublished label names. All names bore capital initial letters, making it difficult to sort genera from species. Moreover, many were given in the German vernacular. The first noteworthy paragraph was on page 187, where five genera were discussed. The first three were established ones, but then came "Napho (pa 3, fig. 24), Aglaura (pl. 3, fig. 23)". The figures give wing venation, a valid indication. Napho Hewitson "1848" [1849] had been published just before (on the same Boisduval species), but Aglaura was here new. It is accordingly included in the Addenda chapter above. In another paragraph, on page 189, "Hamadrias" Boisduval was given two species (zoilus Fab., the type, and assaricus Cram.), and Heliconia recurred. "Dianassa" was one of the confusing specific names. Other generic names, luckily none new, included "Eteona Boisd.", published a year earlier by Doubleday. The paper was unfinished, but no further instalment appeared in the Abhandlingar Vols. 2 (1852) - 5 (1855). The higher classification used here follows Lamas (2008).
