Memo: Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:- S. choerilus is a junior subjective synonym of Sphinx pholus Cramer, 1776, ibidem 1: 137, pl.87, fig.B; the senior name may not be used as the valid name as it is a junior primary homonym of Sphinx pholus Drury, 1773, Illust. nat. Hist. exot. Insects 2: 49, index, pl.28, fig.3, - Lepid., Arctiidae. Both Cramer names are dated from the wrappers of the parts in which they were issued, not from the title-pages of the volumes. Kitching & Cadiou (2000) list AMPELOECA Rothschild & Jordan, 1903 and OTUS Hübner, 1819 as junior names of DARAPSA Walker, 1856.
