Memo: Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:- A junior homonym of Macroglossa Ochsenheimer, 1816, Schmett. Eur. 4: 41, - Lepid., Sphingidae. There is no objective replacement name, but Macroglossa milvus is congeneric with Sphinx stellatarum Linnaeus, 1758, the type-species of Macroglossum Scopoli, 1777; the latter is thus available for use as a subjective replacement name. Kitching & Cadiou (2000) list * BOMBYLIA Hübner, 1806; BOMBYLIA Hübner, 1822; MACROGLOSSA Boisduval, 1833; MACROGLOSSA Ochsenheimer, 1816; PSITHYROS Hübner, 1822; RHAMPHOSCHISMA Wallengren and RHOPALOPSYCHE Butler, 1875 as junior synonyms of MACROGLOSSUM Scopoli, 1777.
