Memo: Nye (1975) stated:- H. mauritia was also published in 1833 in Faune ent. Madagascar, Bourbon et Maurice (Lépid.): 92, pl. 13, fig. 9. Poole (1989) included SPODOPTERA in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE, subsequently restricted to the genus AMPHIPYRA by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). Other genera formerly treated in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE are treated as HADENINAE by Kitching & Rawlins (loc. cit.). Poole (1989) included LAPHYGMA Guenée, 1852; PRODENIA Guenée, 1852; RUSIDRINA Staudinger, 1892; and PRODENIA Guenée, 1852 as junior synonyms of SPODOPTERA Guenée, 1852. Poole (1989) included 33 species in the genus SPODOPTERA.
