Memo: Fletcher (1979) stated:- This genus was originally proposed in the Drepanidae; it was placed in the Bombycidae by Draudt, 1929, in Seitz, Gross-Schmett. Erde 6: 675, 708; McDunnough, 1938, Mem. sth. Calif. Acad. Sci. 1: 138 placed it in a separate family, Zanolidae (now Apatelodidae). Fletcher & Nye (1982, Generic Names of Moths of the World) stated:- Z. difficilis is a junior subjective synonym of Phalaena verago Cramer, 1777, Uitlandsche Kapellen (Papillons exot.) 2: 102, pl.162, figs D, E. Zanola was established in the Drepanulidae, now Drepanidae; it was placed in the Limacodidae by Kirby, 1892, Synonymic Cat. Lepid. Heterocera 1: 538; and in the Bombycidae, Zanolinae by Draudt, 1929, in Seitz, Gross-Schmett. Erde 6: 675, 708; it was placed in a separate family, Zanolidae, now Apatelodidae, by McDunnough, 1938, Mem. sth. Calif. Acad. Sci. 1: 138. See also: Dorisia Möschler, 1883. ZANOLA was included within the subfamily BOMBYCIDAE: APATELODINAE by Lemaire & Minet, in Kristensen (1999).
