Memo: Nye (1975) stated:- Chesias has been used as the original generic name for species which are now in the Noctuidae. Fletcher (1979) stated:- P. spartiata is a junior subjective synonym of Tinea legatella [Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775, Ankündung syst. Werkes Schmett. Wienergegend: 319. The objective synonyms Chesias Treitschke and Eucestia Hübner were both proposed in 1825. The dates of publication of the relevant parts of the works concerned were discussed by Fletcher, 1966, Entomologist's Gaz. 17: 10-12. Parsons et al. (1999) included EUCESTIA Hübner, 1825 [December 31]; and EUCESTIX Agassiz, 1847 as junior synonyms of CHESIAS Treitschke, 1825. Parsons et al. (1999) included 10 species and 10 subspecies (inc. nominates) in the genus CHESIAS.
