Memo: Fletcher (1979) stated:- The type-species was included by Hübner in Erannis as defoliaria Linnaeus, an incorrect authorship. Parsons et al. (1999) included CHIMADIA Speyer, 1839; HYBERNIA Berthold, 1827; LAMPETIA Stephens, 1827; and THRIPTERA Gistl, 1848 as junior synonyms of ERANNIS Hübner, 1825. Parsons et al. (1999) included 9 species and 10 subspecies (inc. nominates) in the genus ERANNIS.
