Memo: Hemming (1967) stated:- The taxon represented by the nominal species Eumenia toxea Godart is currently treated subjectively on taxonomic grounds as being the same as that represented by the older-established nominal species Rusticus minijas [see Cowan's note below] Hübner, [1809], the type-species of Eumaeus Hübner, [1819], of which therefore the name Eumenia Godart, [1834], is on the basis of the foregoing subjective synonymy a junior subjective synonym Cowan (1968: 12) stated:- EUMENIA "Godart, 1934" should read; Godart, 1824. Cowan (1970: 46) stated:- EUMAEA, EUMAEUS, EUMENIA: Rusticus minijas is often misspelt "minyas". The "copperplate script" on Hübner's plate [971, as also on the 1904 Wytsman reprint, clearly shows the two dots over the ij, without which they would read as "y". The higher classification used here follows Lamas (2008).
