Memo: Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:- A junior homonym of Euphrosyne Gray, 1866, Proc. zool. Soc. Lond. 1866: 214, - Mammalia. There is no objective replacement name, but E. pertyi is congeneric with Papilio evalthe Fabricius, 1775, the type-species of Xanthocastnia Houlbert, 1918; the latter is thus available for use as a subjective replacement name. The earlier use of the generic name * Euphrosyne Meigen, 1800, Nouv. Class. Mouches Deux Ailes: 16, - Insecta, Diptera, was included in a work rejected for nomenclatural purposes by the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature, 1963, Bull. zool. Nom. 20 (Opinion 678); the name was not used again prior to the publication of Euphrosyne Gray, 1866. E. pertyi is a junior subjective synonym of Castnia euphrosyne Perty, [1833] 1830-1834, in Spix & Martius, Delectus Anim. articulatorum, quae in itinere per Brasilian annis 1817-1820 ...collegerant (3): 155, pl.31, fig.1. The date of publication of Buchecker's work is taken from Derkson & Scheiding, 1963, Index Litt. ent. (2) 1: 385.
