Memo: Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:- A junior homonym of Ambulyx Westwood, 1847, Cabinet oriental Ent.: [61], - Lepid., Sphingidae and an objective synonym of Protambulyx Rothschild & Jordan, 1903. Sagra's work was published simultaneously in both French and Spanish editions; the sizes of the volumes in the two editions differ, hence the different pagination. In the Spanish edition the name was spelt Ambulyx and * Ambulix, the latter an incorrect original spelling. Ambulyx was regarded by Lucas as a Boisduval manuscript name. Kitching & Cadiuo (2000) list AMBULYX Burmeister 1855; AMBULYX Herrich-Schäffer, 1854; AMBULYX Lucas, 1857 and AMBULYX Walker, 1856 as junior names of PROTAMBULYX Rothschild & Jordan, 1903.
