Memo: Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:- The date is that of the plate, not of the title-page of the work which is dated 1848. Ambulyx was established as a subgenus of Sphinx Linnaeus, 1758. Kitching & Cadiou (2000) list OXYAMBULYX Rothschild & Jordan, 1903 as a junior synonym of AMBULYX Westwood, 1847.
