Memo: Hemming (1967) stated:- Kluk in the work cited above was the first author to use the word "Heliconius" as a generic name in a strictly binominal sense. This name was placed by the Commission in its Opinion 382 (published in 1956) on the Official List of Generic Names in Zoology as Name No. 923. HELICONIUS was included within the subfamily NYMPHALIDAE: HELICONIINAE by Ackery et al., in Kristensen (1999). The higher classification used here follows Lamas (2008).
