Memo: Fletcher & Nye (1984) stated:- Phalaena atralis Hübner, [1788], is a junior primary homonym of Phalaena atralis Fabricius, 1775, Syst. Ent. : 645 - Lepid. , Pyralidae. The objective replacement name is Heliothela huebneri Kocak, 1980, Comms Fac. Sci. Univ. Ankara (C) 24: 12. Phalaena atralis Hübner [1788], was again described and figured by Hübner, 1796 Samml. eur. Schmett. 6: 10, pl. 5 fig. 27, in the combination Pyralis atralis. Kocak, 1980 896 ibidem 928 24: 12, noted that Pyralis atralis (Hübner, 1796), was a homonym of Pyralis atralis Thunberg, 1784, and established Heliothela huebneri as the objective replacement name. He was evidently unaware that Pyralis atralis (Hübner, 1796), had previously been described in the combination Phalaena atralis Hübner, [1788]. Heliothela was established in the Hercynidae now Pyralidae Odontiinae; it was placed in the Pyralidae Pyraustinae by Hampson 1899 Proc. zool. Soc. Lond. 1898: 603; in the Heliothelini, a separate tribe of the Pyraustinae, by Amsel, 1970, Beitr. naturk. Forsch. SüdwDtl. 29: 59; in the Pyralidae Scopariinae by Leraut, 1980, Liste syst. syn. France Belg. Corse: 105, and by Heppner, 1982, Jl N. Y. ent. Soc. 89: 263; and in the Pyralidae Heliothelinae, established as a tribe by Amsel and raised to subfamily rank by Minet, 1982, Bull. Soc. ent. Fr. 86: 268. (Leraut, 1982, Alexanor, 12 : 380 (pers. comm.). Shaffer (pers. comm.) treats HELIOTHELA in the CRAMBIDAE: SCOPARIINAE.
