Memo: Nye & Fletcher (1991) included HOLCOPOGON in the family HOLCOPOGONIDAE, treated by Hodges, in Kristensen (1999) as a subfamily of AUTOSTICHIDAE Nye & Fletcher (1991) stated:- The type-species was not designated by original designation, under the Code (Edn 3), Article 68(b)(i), as has been stated by some authors. This article applies only to newly established nominal genera containing more than one new nominal species. Holcopogon originally contained one new one established nominal species. Invalid designation of type-species: Hypsolophus bubulcellus Staudinger, 1859, was designated by Meyrick, 1925, in Wytsman, Genera Insect. 184: 199, and has been accepted as the type-species by some authors. Holcopogon was included in the "Gelechiadae" by Fletcher, 1929, Mem. Dep. Agric. India (Ent.) 11: 110; it was made the type-species of the Holcopogonidae Gozmany, 1967, Acta zool. hung. 13: 271.
