Memo: Nye (1975) stated:- The type-species was proposed by Cramer as P. carenea but was indexed on page 174 as caranea. Guenée, 1852, ibidem 7: 208 cited both these multiple original spellings and adopted caranea which has subsequently been used. Poole (1989) included HULODES in the subfamily OPHIDERINAE, treated as CALPINAE by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). Poole (1989) included HYLODES Hampson, 1894 as a junior synonym of HULODES Guenée, 1852. Poole (1989) included 8 species in the genus HULODES.
