Memo: Nye (1975) stated:- N. saga is a junior subjective synonym of Phalaena pueta Cramer, 1777, Uitlandsche Kapellen 2: 10, pl. 103, figs D, E. At the end of his generic redescription, Moore (1884, Lepid. Ceylon 3: 81) where he usually but not always designated the type-species, on this ocassion cited H. puera but did not state 'Type'; it is therefore not acceptable as a type-species designation. Hyblaea was formerly the type-species of a subfamily in the Noctuidae; it is currently accepted as the type-genus of a family in the Pyraloidea. See also: Nabara Walker, 1866. Fletcher & Nye (1984) stated:- Hampson cited as type-species Phalaena puera Cramer, 1777, a nominal species not originally included in Hyblaea. At the same time however, Hampson placed puera as a senior synonym of saga, a nominal species originally included in Hyblaea. Under the Code, Article 69(a)(iv), this designation constitutes the fixation of the originally included nominal species as the type-species. Moore, (1884) 1884 7 Lepid. Ceylon 3: 80, 81, at the end of his re description of Hyblaea at the place where he usually, but not aalways, designated the type-species, cited H. puera but did not state 'Type'; it does not, therefore, constitute a valid type-species designation.
