Memo: Fletcher (1979) stated:- It is possible that Hygrochroma originated as an incorrect subsequent spelling of Hygrochroa Hübner, [1823]. Hygrochroma has, however, been used consistently as a valid genus (Guenée, 1857, in Boisduval & Guenée, Hist. nat. Insectes (Spec. gén. Lépid.) 9: 149; Walker, 1866, List Specimens lepid. Insects Colln Br. Mus. 35: 1561; Druce, 1892, Biologia cent.-am. (Zool.) Lepid.-Heterocera 2: 58) and is still in current use. In the interests of nomenclatural stability current usage is followed. Parsons et al. (1999) included 11 species in the genus HYGROCHROMA.
