Memo: Nye (1975) stated:- H. humidalis is a junior subjective synonym of Hypena turfosalis Wocke, 1850, Z. Ent. Breslau 4 (16) Lepid.: pl. 5, fig. 17. These two names were both published at about the same time; H. humidalis in October and H. turfosalis in the last quarterly issue of 1850. Ever since they were synonymized in 1854, turfosalis has been accepted as the senior name. See also: Tholomiges Lederer, 1857. Poole (1989) included HYPENODES in the subfamily HYPENODINAE, treated as a junior synonym of STREPSIMANINAE by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). Poole (1989) included SCHRANKIA Herrich-Schffer, 1851 (preoccupied); THOLOMIGES Lederer, 1857; and MENOPSIMUS Dyar, 1907 as junior synonyms of HYPENODES Doubleday, 1850.
