Memo: Fletcher (1979) stated:- An unjustified emendation of Ypsipetes Stephens, 1829, and a junior homonym of Hypsipetes Vigors, 1831, Proc. Comm. Correspondence Sci. zool. Soc. Lond. 1 (4): 43 - Aves. The `Index universalis' was published as Fascicle 12 of the Nomencl. zool.; Hypsipetes is dated from the wrapper of Fascicle 12, not from its title-page which is dated 1846. Parsons et al. (1999) included HYPSIPETES Agassiz, 1847; HYPSIPETES Swinhoe, 1831; KARACIDARIA Matsumura, 1925; PHAESYLE Bruand, 1847; RHODOMENA Warren, 1904; and YPSIPETES Stephens, 1829 as junior synonyms of HYDRIOMENA Hübner, 1825.
