Memo: Fletcher (1979) stated:- Phalaena cervinalis Scopoli, 1763, Ent. Carniolica: 216 was misidentified and the name unjustifiably emended to Geometra cervinata by [Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775, Ankündung syst. Werkes Schmett. Wienergegend: 111. The misidentification was repeated with the embedded name by Hübner, [1809] 1796, Samml. eur. Schmett. 5: pl.62, fig.318 and in [1825] 1816, Verz. bekannter Schmett.: 330 and by Stephens, 1831, ibidem 3: 210, 211. The first available name for the misidentified species is Geometra clavaria Haworth, 1809. Under Article 70(a) of the Code the case of a misidentified type-species should be referred to the Commission. The objective synonyms Larentia Treitschke and Plerocymia Hübner were both proposed in 1825. The dates of publication of the relevant parts of the works concerned were discussed by Fletcher, 1966, Entomologist's Gaz. 17: 10-12. The date of the type-species is taken from the wrapper, not from the title-page of the work which is dated 1803. Incorrect type-species: Phalaena dubitata Linnaeus, 1758, a name not originally included in Larentia and not linked with one of the originally included names when designated by Duponchel, 1829, in Godart & Duponchel, Hist. nat. Lepid. Papillons Fr. 7(2): 111. Parsons et al. (1999) included CYMAZONITA Sodoffsky, 1837; LARENTIA Stephens, 1829; and PLEROCYMIA Hübner, 1825 {December 31] as jnuior synonyms of LARENTIA Treitschke, 1825 [October 18]. Parsons et al. (1999) included 25 species and 6 subspecies (inc. nominates) in the genus LARENTIA.
