Memo: Hemming (1967) stated:- An Unjustified Emendation of Libythea Fabricius, 1807. Cowan (1970: 37) stated:- "LIBYTHAEUS" Boitard, 1828. An Incorrect Subsequent Spelling of Libythea Fabricius, 1807. Under the heading (: 292) "Genre Libythée", Boitard twice mentioned "Les Libythées (Libythaeus)". This suggests confusion, perhaps, in converting back from the vernacular; he gave no evidence of emendation nor of regarding this as the introduction of a new name. This is an exact parallel to "Nymphalus" (see below [Nymphalus Boitard, 1838]), which Hemming handled differently. The higher classification used here follows Lamas (2008).
