Memo: Nye & Fletcher (1991) stated:- The type-species was included by Razowski as "Cochylis phaleratana Herrich-Schäffer, 1847" i.e., Tortrix phaleratana Herrich-Schäffer, [1851] 1849, Syst. Bearbeitung Schmett. Eur. 4: 189; [1847], Tortricidae pl.13 figs 84, 85 [non-binominal]. Svensson, 1966, Opusc. ent. 31: 185, stated that the species named as phaleratana by Razowski, 1960, was misidentified and should have been named epilinana Duponchel. Under the Code (Edn 3), Article 70(b), the case of a misidentified type-species is so to be referred to the Commission to fix as the type-species whichever nominal species will "best serve stability and universality of nomenclature". We suggest that the Commission be asked to designate as the type-species of Longicornutia Razowski, 1960, the nominal species actually involved, namely Cochylis epilinana Duponchel, 1842. Treated as a junior subjective synonym of COCHYLIS Treitschke, 1829, Schmett. Eur. 7: 233 in T@RTS: Online World Catalogue of the Tortricidae (Ver. 2.0) by Gilligan, T. M., J. Baixeras, J. W. Brown & K. R. Tuck. 2012.
