Memo: Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:- Lophostethus was established as the objective replacement name for Euclea Boisduval, [1875]. References by authors to the publication of the name Sphinx dumolinii earlier than that of Angas probably derive from an illustration of the species, based on a specimen from Senegal supplied by Boisduval, published with only the vernacular name Smérinthe Dumolin by Latreille, 1830, in Cuvier, Règne Animal (Edn 2) 3: 438 and footnote, pl.20, fig.1. Kitching & Cadiou (2000) list EUCLEA Boisduval, 1875 as a junior name of LOPHOSTETHUS Butler, 1876.
