Memo: Watson, Fletcher & Nye (1980) stated:- Marcipa was established in the Liparidae, now Lymantriidae; it was transferred from the Liparidae, but was not placed elsewhere, by Swinhoe, 1903, Trans. ent. Soc. Lond. 1903: 497; and was placed in the Noctuidae, `Noctuinae' [sensu Hampson] now Ophiderinae, by Hampson, 1926, Descr. new Genera Species Lepid. Phalaenae Subfamily Noctuinae Br. Mus.: 161. Poole (1989) included MARCIPA in the subfamily OPHIDERINAE, treated as CALPINAE by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). Poole (1989) included BIRTHA Walker, 1865 as a junior synonym of MARCIPA Walker, 1855. Poole (1989) included 80 species in the genus MARCIPA.
