Memo: Nye (1975) stated:- Mecoptera when originally proposed contained a second species, but this was doubtfully included and, under the Code, Article 68 (c), is not eligible for designation as type-species. Mecoptera is a junior objective synonym of Eupsilia Hübner, [1821]. See: EUPSILIA Hübner, [1821] 1816. Poole (1989) included SCOPELOSOMA Curtis, 1837; MECOPTERA Guenée, 1837; and DICHAGRAMMA Grote, 1864 as junior synonyms of EUPSILIA Hübner, 1821.
