Memo: Nye & Fletcher (1991) included MEGACERAEA in the family BLASTOBASIDAE, treated by Hodges, in Kristensen (1999) as a subfamily of COLEOPHORIDAE. Nye & Fletcher (1991) stated:- Megaceraea was proposed after 1930 and was not accompanied by the fixation of a type-species. Thus under the Code (Edn 3), Article 13(b), the name is technically unavailable. The Commission should therefore be asked to use its plenary power to make Megaceraea nomenclaturally available.
