Memo: Watson, Fletcher & Nye (1980) and Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:- Melisa was established as a subgenus of Euchromia Hübner, [1819], at that time in the 'Zygaenides', now Zygaenidae; it was placed in the Syntomidae, now Ctenuchidae, by Hampson, 1898, Cat. Lepid. Phalaenae Br. Mus. 1: 152, and was placed in the Thyretidae by Kiriakoff, 1960, Genera Insect. 214 (E): 5.
