Memo: Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:- Kirby cited as type-species Dreata plumipes Walker, 1855, a nominal species not originally included in Messata. At the same time, however, Kirby placed plumipes as a senior synonym of rubiginosa, a nominal species originally included in Messata. Under the Code, Article 69(a)(iv), this designation constitutes the fixation of the originally included nominal species as type-species. M. rubiginosa is a junior subjective synonym of Dreata plumipes Walker, 1855, ibidem 4: 907. Messata was established in the Limacodidae; it was placed in the Lasiocampidae by Kirby, 1892, ibidem 1: 808; and in the Eupterotidae by Swinhoe, 1892, Cat. east. and Aust. Lepid. Heterocera Colln Oxf. Univ. Mus. 1: 273.
