| Memo: | Nye & Fletcher (1991) stated:- Metasphaeroeca was established as an objective replacement name for Sphaeroeca Meyrick, 1895, a junior homonym. P. obscurana was first proposed as the name for a new species by Stephens, 1829 [July], Syst. Cat. Br. Insects 2: 175, but in both works the name is a nomen nudum.
