Memo: Nye (1975) stated:- P. albirena was proposed as * Phothedes, an incorrect spelling. Metoponrhis Staudinger, 1888 was treated in the Noctuidae, Ophiderinae in Nye 1975, Generic Names Moths World, 1 : 311. Metoponrhis has subsequently been referred to the Tytinae from the Ophiderinae within the Noctuidae by Speidel, Fanger & Naumann, 1996, Systematic Entomology 21 (3) : 249. Poole (1989) included METOPONRHIS in the subfamily OPHIDERINAE, treated as CALPINAE by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). Poole (1989) included 5 species in the genus METOPONRHIS.
