Memo: Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:- C. johanna is a form of Sphinx brennus Stoll, 1782, in Cramer, Uitlandsche Kapellen (Papillons exot.) 4: 233, pl.398, fig.B. Kirby's Handbook was published in 1897 with identical pagination and plates in both Allen's Naturalist's Library and Lloyd's Natural History. Kitching & Cadiou (2000), although they do not include Miavia Kirby, 1897, include Choerocampa johanna Kirby, 1877 as a junior synonym of Hippotion brennus (Stoll, 1782) [Macroglossini: Choerocampina].
