Memo: Nye (1975) stated:- but cited as 'N. maura Fabr.', an incorrect authorship. Poole (1989) included MORMO in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE, subsequently restricted to the genus AMPHIPYRA by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). Other genera formerly treated in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE are treated as HADENINAE by Kitching & Rawlins (loc. cit.). Poole (1989) included LEMUR Hübner, 1822; MANIA Treitschke, 1825; and ACYRA Gistl, 1848 as junior synonyms of MORMO Ochsenheimer, 1816. Poole (1989) included 7 species in the genus MORMO.
