Memo: Nye (1975) stated:- The date of publication of Mycteroplus is accepted from Hemming, 1937, Hüber 1:585. Poole (1989) included MYCTEROPLUS in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE, subsequently restricted to the genus AMPHIPYRA by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). Other genera formerly treated in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE are treated as HADENINAE by Kitching & Rawlins (loc. cit.). Poole (1989) included STEPHANIA Guenée, 1852; USBECA Püngeler, 1914; and ACROSPHALIA Rebel, 1918 as junior synonyms of MYCTEROPLUS Herrich-Schäffer, 1850. Poole (1989) included 3 species in the genus MYCTEROPLUS.
