Memo: Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:- Kirby cited on page 877 as type-species Morpheis smerintha Hübner, [1821], a nominal species not originally included in Myelobia. At the same time, however, on pages 877, 878, he placed smerintha as a senior synonym of pustulata, a nominal species originally included in Myelobia. Under the Code, Article 69(a)(iv), this designation constitutes the fixation of the originally included nominal species as the type-species. Myelobia pustulata is now treated as a distinct species. Myelobia was not placed in a family when established; it was placed in the Cossidae by Kirby, 1892, ibidem 1: 877, and still retained in that family, though doubtfully, by Dalla Torre, 1923, in Strand, Lepid. Cat. 29: 55; it was placed in the Pyralidae, Galleriinae, by Hampson, 1901, in Ragonot, in Romanoff, Mém. Lépid. 8: 423, and transferred to the Pyralidae, Crambinae by Biezanko, Ruffinelli & Carbonell, 1957, Rev. Fac. agron. Univ. Répub. Urug. 46: 24, on the advice of Dr W.T.M. Forbes. Fletcher & Nye (1984, Generic Names of Moths of the World) stated:- Kirby cited on page 877 as type-species Morpheis smerintha Hübner, [1821] a nominal species not originally included in Myelobia. At the same time however, Kirby placed smerintha as a senior subjective synonym of pustulata, a nominal species originally included in Myelobia. Under the Code, Article 69(a)(iv), this designation constituted the fixation of the originally included nominal species as the type-species. Myelobia was not placed in a family when established; it was placed in the Cossidae by Kirby, 1892 ibidem 1: 877, and still retained in that family, though doubtfully, by Dalla Torre, 1923, in Strand, Lepid. Cat. (29): 55; it was placed in the Pyralidae Galleriinae by Hampson, 1901, Rogonot in Romanoff Mém. Lépid. 8: 423, and transferred to the Pyralidae Crambinae by Forbes, 1926, Jl N. Y. ent. Soc. 34: 333.
