Memo: Fletcher (1979) stated:- When originally proposed, Nelo contained two other species, both doubtfully included; under Article 68(c) of the Code these are not eligible for selection as type-species. This genus was originally proposed in the Lithosiidae (now Arctiidae), but has since been transferred to the Geometridae; its first published use in this family appears to have been by Warren, 1897, Novit. zool. 4: 463. Parsons et al. (1999) included 9 species in the genus NELO. Pitkin (2002) included Sangala Walker, 1854; Nelo Walker, 1854; Melanoptilon Herrich-Schäffer, 1855; and Nelopsis Warren, 1895 as junior synonyms of Drymoea Walker, 1854.
