Memo: Nye (1975) stated:- Not preoccupied by * Ommatophora; Turner, 1848, Proc. zool. Soc. Lond. 16: 88, -Mammalia, an incorrect subsequent spelling of Ommatophoca Gray, 1844, - Mammalia. Poole (1989) included OMMATOPHORA in the subfamily OPHIDERINAE, treated as CALPINAE by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). Poole (1989) included 3 species in the genus OMMATOPHORA.
